Kevin Westervelt

Kevin started with Anderson Insurance in 2018 bringing a “lifetime” of insight to the agency. As our Inside Sales Coordinator, Kevin specializes in navigating the complexities of the coastal insurance market. Commanding several dozen insurance markets, he has earned a reputation for being highly effective at placing even the most difficult risks with appropriate, tailor-made solutions.

For Kevin, insurance isn’t just a career, it’s a family legacy. Kevin is the son of Edward “Eddie” Westervelt a Charleston native and Citadel graduate who was a State Farm Agent for over four decades. Kevin grew up around his father’s business learning that insurance is more than just policies and premiums; it’s about protecting people’s hard-earned property and assets. From a young age Kevin would do everything from greeting clients to tagging along on appointments with his father gaining invaluable insight into risk management and client relations.

He is a graduate of the University of Richmond Robins School of Business where he earned his degree in Economics and Finance. He attended the University of Richmond on a full football scholarship winning two conference championships and the 2008 Division I FCS National Championship as an offensive lineman.

After graduating from Richmond Kevin started his career in financial services with Prudential Financial earning his Series 6, Series 63 and Life & Health licenses before starting in the insurance industry in 2015.

Kevin is deeply involved in the local industry, previously serving as the Vice President and Treasurer of the SC Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of Greater Charleston.

He lives in Charleston with his beautiful wife, Sarah, and their two dogs, Winston and Hugo. When he isn’t in the office or on the golf course, you’ll likely find him in his garden.
